SUMMARY:Holocaust and Social Justice Education Program Presentation
DESCRIPTION:The Hebrew Congregation of Chautauqua proudly supports a Holoca
 ust and Social Justice Education program for high school students in the g
 reater Chautauqua area.\n\nThe Congregation underwrites the cost of a trip
  to Washington\, DC for students and teachers in the program. The program 
 has grown yearly\, both in the number of high schools participating and th

 .\n\nLeigh-Anne Hendrick\, Program Director\, is a high school social stud
 ies teacher with 24 years of classroom experience. Mrs. Hendrick has worke
 d as a consultant with the United States Department of Education’s Teach
 er to Teacher training program and has presented both nationally and inter
 nationally. She has received training at the United States Holocaust Memor
 ial Museum in Washington\, D.C\, and in 2005 was named one of fifteen Muse
 um Teacher Fellows in the United States. She has been awarded the Toby Tic
 ktin Back Award for Holocaust Education and RIT’s Distinguished Teacher 
 recognition.\n\nMost recently\, Mrs. Hendrick has been working to expand H
 olocaust and human rights education in Chautauqua County\, a mission she i
 s passionate about. She is also a co-founding director of the Chautauqua C
 ountry Summer Institute for Human Rights and Genocide Studies. In both pro
 grams she has been instrumental in developing teacher and student training
  programs to broaden and deepen understanding of the Holocaust\, genocide\
 , human rights and social justice. She strives to empower students and edu
 cators to take an active role in our shared humanity.
